Placement of dental implant in a knife edge ridge in anterior aesthetic zone.

چکیده
Dental implants are established alternatives for replacing missing teeth. Dental implants are artificial tooth root, positioned in the jaw bone, in order to sustain the replacement tooth or bridge. Recent advance in dental implant technology has made it more convenient, efficient and affordable for patients. In the anterior maxilla, esthetic demands not only require well-anchored implants but also sufficient soft and hard tissue in order to achieve natural looking result. Augmentation of the resorbed alveolar crest can be achieved, for example, with onlay bone grafts, membrane techniques, bone distraction and bone splitting. This report highlights the placement of implants in compromised alveolar ridges with good results. Implant was successfully restored and follow-up done for one year.

Severely resorbed alveolar ridge in aesthetic zone of maxilla and mandible can compromise the successful implant placement and aesthetic outcome. Advancements in the field of dental implant therapy have lead to predictable survival rates of dental implants. The current definition of success in addition to long-term predictability, function and integration of the implant focuses on esthetic cons...
متن کاملA Two-step Method for the Preparation of Implant Recipient Site in Severe Atrophic Maxilla: A Case Report of the Alveolar Ridge Split Technique Followed by Bone Expansion
Augmentation of deficient and atrophic alveolar ridges is an important aspect of dental implant therapy with the goal of providing a functional restoration in harmony with adjacent natural dentition. Bone splitting technique is considered a distinguished augmentation method for treatment of deficient alveolar ridges. According to this procedure, the compromised alveolar ridge is opened from the...
متن کاملImplant placement with guided bone regeneration in the maxillary aesthetic zone - A case report with 3 years of follow up
The placement of implants in a prosthetically driven position depends on the quantity and quality of available bone especially in the anterior region of maxilla. Implant placement and its restoration becomes clinically challenging when the alveolar ridge lacks sufficient bone volume. Additional surgical procedures are required to augment the bone deficiency in such clinical situations. Advanced...
متن کاملRehabilitation of the severely atrophied dentoalveolar ridge in the aesthetic region with corticocancellous grafts from the iliac crest and dental implants
UNLABELLED Backround: The aim of this study was to assess changes in bone volume after block bone augmentation and placement of dental implants and further evaluate the aesthetic outcome of the treatment. MATERIAL AND METHODS 9 patients with atrophied anterior maxilla were included in this study. They received total of 21 implants. Dimensions of the alveolar ridge were measured from cone-beam...
متن کاملThe Relationship Between Gingival Biotypes and Dentopapillary Complex: An Observational Study
Background and Aim: Gingival biotype is a principal component in restorative and implant procedures, especially in the aesthetic region. Immediate determination of the gingival biotype by the clinician could lead to a more successful outcome, especially during implant placement in the aesthetic zone. The aim of this study was to investigate a possible relationship between gingival biotypes and ...
